The first full day of 2017 Team Camp No. 1 found The Team signing autographs and hanging out with friends at Petco Park in San Diego. New partners 2XU and 361 were shown off at a fashion show, along with our awesome casual wear from Mountain Khakis.

Unusually wet weather in San Diego made for some extraordinary creativity with some of the photography… Our man, Brian Hodes, of Veloimages, was more than up to the challenge.
San Diego’s favorite bicycle racing team at a monument to San Diego’s favorite baseball legend.
The Team arrive with their training bikes after a wet winter. They get a complete rebuild and are brand new. Parking lot number one of many that await Kevin this season. While The Team were wrecking bottom brackets in the off season, Kevin gutted and refit the trailer. Find him at a race soon.
Returning powerhouse Taylor Shelden steals a quiet moment in the shadow of Petco Park and its monument to Tony Gwynn.
The Team’s Head Mechanic, Kevin Marques Oliveira, has been awarded “Mechanic of the Week” by The Professional Bicycle Mechanics Association.
The award is a significant recognition from Kevin’s peers for a level of skill, professionalism, and dedication that we at The Team appreciate all season long.
The UCI Americas Tour, a prestigious season-long points series recognizing consistent performance on the continent, finished with Jelly Belly Cycling presented by MAXXIS’ Lachlan Morton on top.
Morton, recently named amongst the hottest transfers to watch in 2017, kicked off 2016 with wins in the Boulevard Road Race and Tour of the Gila. Luck was elsewhere during Tour of California, where a stellar ride to the summit finish at Gibraltar was followed by an untimely crash on the stage into Laguna Seca. The Team, a significant factor in each of the season’s wins, was also nursing a collection of injuries there. Everything came back together for Tour of Utah, where a Continental team rider took an unprecedented victory after regaining the lead on the final stage.
Morton returns to European-based international racing in 2017 after two years of Continental racing and realigning his love of riding with top-level racing through well-documented adventures with his brother and a revolving cast of co-conspirators. Look for another installment soon.
“This is a great recognition of an incredible season for Lachlan,” said Director Danny van Haute. “The Americas Tour overall is awarded to an individual, but The Team played an enormous part in putting Lachlan into that position and everyone on this year’s team should be proud.”
The Team rode The Beautiful Xingtai-Green International Stage Race, last in a block of UCI Asia Tour races, as the last official race on the 2016 calendar.
With a strong ride marred by mishap at Tour of California and an incredible showing at Tour of Utah, it was inevitable that Lachlan Morton would be eyeing a return to World Tour racing from a European base. We wish Lachlan the very best and are grateful for the past two seasons he spent with us.
“Lachlan changed the dynamic within the team,” said DS Danny van Haute. “We built a team based on stage races and we built it around a leader who could recruit the best aspects of every rider around him, while also motivating The Team and keeping morale high. Jelly Belly presented by MAXXIS has benefitted and continues to benefit from Lachy’s time here.”
“I’ve had the best two seasons of my career with Jelly Belly Cycling presented by MAXXIS,” confirmed Morton. “I will be forever grateful to this team. I have got renewed goals and dreams so I am heading back to Europe.Start of a new chapter and I couldn’t be more excited.”
Serghei Tvetcov, former Romanian Road and TT National Champion, returns stateside in 2017 and to The Team where he had breakout rides including 3rd overall at US Pro Challenge and the overall victory at Cascade Cycling Classic.
Sean Bennett, promising U23 all-rounder with international experience, will split his 2017 season between Jelly Belly Cycling presented by MAXXIS and the US National team.
Powerhouses Jacob Rathe, Taylor Shelden, and Angus Morton return, as do climbers Jordan Cheyne, Michael Sheehan, and Josh Berry. Sprinters Ben Wolfe and Ulises Castillo will also be animating domestic races at the highest level in 2017.
