The Jelly Belly p/b Kenda riders divided and conquered last weekend at races across North America, including two overall victories.
At the Tour de White Rock, the final race in BC Super Week in Vancouver, Canada, Nic Hamilton snagged second place in Stage 1 and seventh in Stage 2.
Hamilton was first in General Classification going into the final stage, so teammates Brad Huff and Sean Mazich had to protect his lead by chasing any threats. They worked hard and kept Hamilton out of trouble, and he went on to claim the overall victory. Huff also placed sixth in Stage 3.
At the French Broad Cycling Classic in Asheville, N.C., Jelly Belly p/b Kenda rider Cameron Cogburn went at it alone with terrific results. He placed second in the first stage, first in Stage 2 and 20th in Stage 3, then claimed another overall GC win for Jelly Belly p/b Kenda.
“This just goes to show that Cameron is in very good condition right now,” said team director Danny Van Haute.
July was to be a resting and rebuilding period for the team ahead of five major stage races and criterium national championships at the end of the season. To prepare, riders Alex Hagman and Sergio Hernanedez are doing some mountain biking ahead of the Leadvile 100 in August.
Hagman showed he’s ready by winning the Leadville Silver Rush mountain bike race in Colorado on Saturday.
“The Jelly Belly p/b Kenda riders are in top form right now, taking down competition wherever we go,” Van Haute said. “We are right where we want to be.”
