With three kilometers to go in Stage 4 of the Tour of Korea, Jelly Belly p/b Kenda seized the moment.
All six riders were working together as they swooped to the front and led Ken Hanson to a second-place finish in the stage Monday.
“The lead-out was great for the team,” said director Danny Van Haute. “Everybody came to race today.”
Five stages remain in the Tour of Korea. Jelly Belly p/b Kenda, which won the overall in 2010, has been looking for its stride through the early stages.
It all came together in Monday’s 140-kilometer Stage 4, which included a Category 3 climb about 80 kilometers from the finish. At the top, two riders got away and built a two-minute gap but were reeled in with about three kilometers to go. That’s when the Jelly Belly squad made its move, with a great result.
“We are looking toward more great racing days and podium finishes before it’s all over,” Van Haute said.
