Winning Tulsa for the family

In the third and final stage of the 2009 triple-criterium Tulsa Tough, the Jelly Belly Cycling Team covered every move that went out to protect Brad Huff’s overall lead. After 25 minutes Bernard van Ulden put in a huge attack and gained a 30 second lead by himself, winning over the screaming Jelly Belly fans while grabbing a coveted prime for the team. With five laps to go, the field caught Van Ulden and the hole JB squad moved to the front to lead out Huff, who needed to gain a top ten finish to retain his overall lead. The team helped him to a 5th place finish, and Jonny Clarke wasn’t far behind in 12th.

“The team rode very well and I’m very proud of the guys,” said Danny van Haute.

After hearing of the passing of Van Haute’s father the previous week, “the boys said this win was for Mr. Van Haute, my dad,” Danny added. “I thank you guys for doing that. It’s like one big family here.”
